AIR CHARTERS

For planning your own trip you will need to make arrangements for your "bush" flights from Dillingham to  the starting point of your trip.  Tikchik Narrows Lodge provides the Air Charters for Tikchik State Park Tours. Tikchik Narrows lodge has a fleet of 3 De Havilland Beaver float planes and  a Cessna 206 float plane.  

All trips  from Dillingham Alaska into the upper lakes of the Wood-Tikchik State park including Tikchik River and Salmon River will be by wheel plane, directly from the Dillingham Airport to Tikchik Narrows Lodge runway. From there we will use a float plane to continue on to other destinations where floats are required. This is the most cost effective aircraft to fly and the most convenient from the airport. 

 

Depending on your final destination, you will either start your trip from Tikchik's runway & paddle away or transfer to one of our float planes for your  flight to another location.  

  The costs of the air charters are based on a per hour charge for either the De Havilland Beaver float plane or the Cessna 206 float plane.  Depending on your group size, how much gear you bring and your destination will determine the overall costs. 

We have broken down the different legs, of each flight so that you can determine the costs. The useful load is the combination of passengers and/or gear for that flight, after pilot & fuel. The Cessna 206 can carry 4 passengers and some gear. The De Havilland Beaver can carry 6 passengers and some gear. Depending on the number of passengers and the amount of gear two flights might be necessary, especially out of Dillingham because the wheel plane carries less passengers than the Beavers.
